Muitas histórias contam a origem do Hallowen, mas pelo visto é uma mistura de diversas tradições, celta e cristã.
Primeiro os celtas celebravam o fim oficial do verão e também tinham nessa comemoração a celebravamdos mortos Samhai.Com a invasão da Gã bretanha pelos Romanos as culturas acabaram se misturando.
Pela tradiçao cistão criou-se o dia de todos s santos no dia 1o de novembro, criando-se também a vigília que em inglês se chamava All Hallow's Eve(vigíiia de todos os santos: eve, véspera).
Provavelmente para afastar também as tradições pagães.
Hallow Evening → Hallowe'en → Halloween.
Com essa mistura de celebrações acredita-se que o que ficou foi o Halloween, mistura da nomenclatura cristã com a festa celta.

All of this cultures and celebration make us believe that what stays nowadays , HALLOWEEN, the mix of the Chrisntian name and Celtic celebration.
